Brush Rodeo Association Scholarship
Each year the Brush Rodeo Association gives away a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior. The criteria is that the student must be a Colorado Resident living East of Interstate 25 and North of Interstate 70 and a member of the rodeo team at whichever college they are attending the next year. The scholarship is renewed each year for a total of 4 years. the student must participate in rodeo every year and be a full-time student. There is a foundation with members that view the applidcations and choose the recipient.
2011 Scholarship Recipient - Hayden Segelke
The Brush Rodeo Association Scholarship Foundation is proud to announce that the 2011 recipient of the college scholarship is Hayden Segelke from Brush High School in Brush, Colorado. Hayden began her rodeo career at age four and has stayed actively involved since. She won her first saddle at age six with the help of her pony Dally.
Hayden Gives credit to her parents for much of her success. They have helped and supported her immensely in and out of the rodeo arena. Hayden has won six national titles; four in the goat tying, one in barrel racing and one all-around title. Hayden realizes this does not come without hard work and many hours of practice, which she has been committed in investing. In addition, she enjoys training her own horses from those raised by the family.
Hayden plans on attending Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, where she has received a rodeo scholarship. She will pursue a degree in Business and sees herself as an NFR contestant competing on a horse raised by her family in the future.
